kiki356 Gritty and beautiful and moving at one and the same time, but how could it be anything else? Favorite track: As I Lie In Your Arms.

Eric K Divine live recordings of Hiro Kone's reimagining and reengineering of key tracks from Annie's classic album Soul Possession. On-U era updated for our postapocalyptic hellscape. Get that blues singer a whiskey, the top shelf shit! Favorite track: Third Gear.

rikm A momentous meeting of musical minds that bridges eras and styles, "Repossessed" brings together an 80s Punk aesthetic with contemporary abstract electronics resulting in a fresh and relevant sound that ably captures and gives voice to twenty-first century life...

Peter Hollo Ridiculously great work from two brilliant artists. Hearing Little Annie revisit these old (impressive & experimental!) works is beautiful, with her sweet 'n' sharp stage banter, and Nicky Mao's production is beyond first class. Favorite track: Third Gear.

about

In early 2017, Dais Records reissued Annie Anxiety’s “Soul Possession” on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years.

Later that summer, Little Annie and Hiro Kone began their collaborative journey over a series of hour-long phone calls which culminated in a flight from Miami to New York and a couple rehearsals punctuated by a few too many cigarette breaks. What promptly followed was a wildly unhinged, genre-bending, reimagining of Annie Anxiety’s infamous 1984 album for the 10th Year Anniversary of Dais Records at Pioneer Works.

A New York City native, Annie Bandez was a fixture in the downtown scene in the late 1970’s with her punk ensemble Annie and the Asexuals, during which time she established her nom de plume Annie Anxiety (later known as “Little Annie”). Relocating to England a couple years later, she found herself at the doorstep of the famed anarcho-commune Dial House, headed by Penny Rimbaud. It was here that Annie Anxiety established herself as a singular artist and voice with her debut 1981 single “Barbed Wire Halo” on seminal Crass Records.

In the summer of 1983, Annie began work at Southern Studios with legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood on “Soul Possession”. Members of Crass, African Head Charge, Family Fodder, among many others came together to record her groundbreaking dub industrial masterpiece which was released on the unofficial Crass off-shoot label Corpus Christi in 1984.

Little Annie’s artistic range has always been evident through a wide array of collaborations, some of which have included label On-U Sound, Kid Congo Powers, Anohni, Coil, Nurse With Wound, Marc Almond, and most currently Paul Wallfisch.

Heartfelt thanks to Ryan Martin, Gibby Miller, Pioneer Works, Adrian Sherwood and all the original musicians who were a part of “Soul Possession”.
